RMA seeks a team-oriented Level 4 Site Safety and Health Officer with extensive experience in vertical, civil, and general construction projects, as a Level 4 Safety Officer is a must. Backgrounds with the federal government and Department of Defense will be very highly valued. Based in the El Paso area, the RMA Level 4 Site Safety and Health Officer will enjoy competitive compensation and excellent benefits. The Level 4 Site Safety and Health Officer reports to the Project Manager. The Level 4 Site Safety and Health Officer will be responsible for safety operations for a major Federal construction project in the El Paso, Texas area.  <br>
<br>
The Level 4 Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for overall safety for each project. Responsibilities include inspecting the work site for compliance with safety and contract requirements, reporting work not in compliance with the site safety plan or USACE EM 385-1-1, initial hazard assessment of the jobsite; monitoring and assessing hazardous and unsafe situations and developing measures to assure personnel safety; maintaining awareness of active and developing situations; communicating potential hazards to management prior to daily safety meetings; correcting unsafe acts or conditions through the regular line of authority, but may exercise emergency authority to prevent or stop unsafe acts when immediate action is required; removing anyone who refuses to comply with the site safety standards; maintaining an activity log; air monitoring and sampling; and ensuring the site safety plan was covered at jobsite safety meetings. <br>
<br>
The Level 4 Site Safety and Health Officer also conducts daily safety and health inspections and maintains a written log which includes the area/operation inspected, date of inspection, identified hazards, recommended corrective actions, estimated and actual dates of corrections and attends pre-construction conference and pre-work meetings, including preparatory inspection meetings and periodic progress meetings.<br>
<br>
Minimum Job Requirements:<br>
A minimum of 10 years construction safety work of a progressive nature with at least 5 years of experience on Federal Government Department of Defense vertical construction projects such as major fence projects, and new vertical building construction.<br>
Must possess a current 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety Class certificate.<br>
Must have an average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 5 years, with training for competent person status for at least the following areas of competency: 1.Excavation; 2. Scaffolding; 3. Fall protection; 4.Hazardous energy;        5. Confined space; 6. Health hazard recognition, evaluation and control of chemical, physical and biological agents; and 7. Personal protective equipment and clothing to include selection, use and maintenance.<br>
<br>
Additional desired job requirements:<br>
1. Five years of experience as a Certified Quality Control Manager, AND Certification as a Quality Control Manager by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, or by the U. S. Navy.<br>
2. Five or more years experience as a Superintendent in a design-build vertical Federal government construction environment, including scheduling experience.<br>
